Research Interests
I am interested in building and analyzing differential equations -- ordinary, partial, and stochastic -- to understand the dynamics of interactions between organisms, both at the population level (epidemiology) and cellular level (quorum sensing). I like studying simple, general models to understand how the assumptions that we make about a biological system shape the predicted outcomes. For example, when does an outbreak occur in our model? Is our prediction robust not only across parameter ranges, but across functional forms? And across a range of reasonable models that might have different predictions, what general rules can we glean?
