Research Interests
The Geometry of Materials group is studies the ways in which geometric microstructures influence the mechanical properties of natural and engineered materials. We study a wide variety of systems, including knitted textiles, liquid crystals, skin mechanics and leaves. We use a combination of differential geometry, applied topology, computational modeling and proof-of-principle experiments to explore these systems.
