Quantitative Biosciences Book Reading by Author, Joshua Weitz
Please join us for a celebration of Joshua's new book- QUANTITATIVE BIOSCIENCES! This book is the cornerstone of our Foundations in QBioS course, providing a broad overview of quantitative approaches in the biological sciences. This book takes the reader from the domain of the very small (i.e., gene regulation, mutational dynamics, game theory and evolutionary dynamics) up to the very large (collective behavior, ecology and global systems), highlighting key mathematical methods and the insights they provided to fundamental biological questions. It's a 'roll your sleeves up' kind of book, where students are taught how to code up their own models in their own choice of language- python, matlab, or R.
This book is very much a product of QBioS: like every good ecosystem, it shaped, and itself was shaped, by our community.
I hope you can join us for readings, coffee, cake, and a book giveaway on April 15th.
