Rozenn Pineau Awarded Graduate Research Excellence Grant
Rozenn Pineau, QBioS PhD Student
Rozenn Pineau was awarded a Graduate Research Excellence Grant (GREG) Rosemary Grant Advanced Award from the Society for the Study of Evolution (SSE). The goal of these grants is to assist students in the later stages of their Ph.D. programs by enabling them to enhance the scope of their dissertation research, such as to conduct additional experiments or field work. Rozenn received funding to examine the genetic landscape of one of Earth’s largest and oldest organisms, the 106 acre clonal Quaking Aspen clone called ‘Pando’. The Rosemary Grant Advanced Award competition attracted a large number of excellent applications. The reviewers were impressed by the breadth and quality of ideas and strategies for research. Because the Society has limited funds available, many fine proposals could not be supported. This award reflects strong recognition of the potential of both Rozenn's project and herself.
