This year's QBioS Hands-on Modeling Workshop will be held online and the theme is Epidemics.
I am delighted to announce that we are moving ahead with this year's QBioS Hands-On Modeling Workshop on the Theme of Epidemics, co-organized with the Fall 2019 cohort: Pablo Bravo, Marian Dominguez Mirazo, Robert Edmiston, Katie Wendorf MacGillivray, Athulya Ram, Varun Sharma, and Conan Zhao. The workshop is targeted to graduate students, scientists, or faculty members interested in learning the basics of epidemic modeling.
The one-day *online* workshop will include:
- A lecture on the core principles behind infection and disease spread.
- Hands-on tutorials for implementing computational deterministic and stochastic models of epidemics, we will support Python, Matlab and R.
- Final discussion on current challenges: from small models to large-scale interventions.
Basic coding experience is recommended, if you are not confident about your skills or would like to learn more, we will upload introductory programming tutorials (Python, Matlab and R) so everyone can join us for the workshop.
